Friday would have been Spencer Arrighetti's turn to start in the rotation. He suffered a broken thumb Monday. The break was at the base of the thumb on the throwing hand but will not require surgery. Arrighetti will wear a cast for two to two and a half weeks then be reevaluated.

Yainer Diaz clubbed the Astros’ first grand slam since 2023 -- and his first extra-base hit of the season -- to cap a six-run outburst in the fifth inning to send Houston to a 14-3 win over the Angels in the series opener Friday night at Daikin Park.
