What about the pitching coach?

All of those who have been let go so far have the approval of myself and my brother. We have discussed these issues all season long. The one remaining coach that we would fire is the pitching coach. Way too many starting pitchers who are not ready to start the game. We were placed in deep holes only to see the starter dominate for the rest of their start. That is poor preparation plain and simple.

Astros pitching was some of the best in MLB in the first half of the season in 2025.

The team wasn’t hitting well and could hardly score a run in the first 4 innings of a game.

The number of injuries suffered is staggering. Would have to check if that is unique to the Astros or going on everywhere since the pitch clock was implemented.

It seemed like the pitching was good when we were plugging in the young guys. We definitely got a boost and then teams studied them a little more and had more success. But the collapse of Valdez and Brown down the stretch was shocking. They were often giving up 3-4 runs a game, often early and in one single inning as usually in the case of Valdez. Something was off and nobody was fixing it, or at least improving things to the point that we were at least approaching .500 down the stretch when these two started. We would have won the wild card by several games and likely won the division as well.
