Astros 2024 first round draft pick Walker Janek got his first invite to Major League spring training camp this year. He participated as a non roster invitee. Playing in 7 games Janek put up impressive numbers batting 5 for 11 with 2 Doubles, 1 Home Run, 5 RBI, and 2 Steals. He had a .455 BA / .571 OB / .909 SLG.

Janek spent all of the 2025 season in high High-A Asheville where he hit .263/.333/.433 with 12 homers, 46 RBIs and 30 stolen bases. An above average defensive Catcher, Janek threw out 31% of base stealers last season. He is predicted to start the 2026 season at AA Corpus Christi.
